Emotional Freedom Technique

What is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?

An Introduction to 'Tapping'

Emotional Freedom Technique, often known as 'EFT' or simply 'Tapping', is a powerful self-help tool used to manage stress, anxiety, and difficult emotions. It works by combining gentle tapping with focused thoughts to help calm your body's stress response.

The process is simple and something you can do for yourself at any time. It generally involves three steps:

  1. Focus on the Feeling: First, you identify a specific negative emotion or issue you want to work on (e.g., "I'm feeling anxious about my exams").

  2. Tap Through the Points: You then use your fingertips to gently tap on a sequence of specific points on your head, face, and upper body.

  3. Talk it Through: While tapping, you voice the negative feeling and then follow it with a positive, accepting phrase (e.g., "...but I accept myself and how I feel").

The goal is to reduce the intensity of the negative emotion, calming your mind and body. Many people find it helps to relieve anxiety and nerves, leaving them feeling stronger, more resilient, and confident.
